Touch & Play: Fertile Ground - Ashville, NC, April 12-15, 2018

Touch & Play:  Fertile Ground

The Touch & Play Project started in 2010 as a platform to challenge the practice of Contact Improvisation (CI) as it existed at the time – an intimate form of dance defined by an exploration of ‘Physics not Chemistry’. The first festival in Berlin explicitly invited participants to explore the ‘chemistry’ of CI by bringing in emotions, sexuality, aggression, politics and everything else often kept out of our dances. The event was a success and the material reverberated around the European and N. American contact communities raising discussions on the boundaries of our practice and the perceived (un)safety of our attempts to exclude chemistry from our dances.

Touch & Play – Ashville, NC, April 12-15, 2018, is one of many festivals, classes, workshops and labs, inspired by the first ever Touch & Play festival brought to the US last July, 2016 in western, MA.

Why ‘Fertile Ground’?  Touch & Play invites us to be ALL of who we are.  The result is nothing short of life giving…fertile ground for growing passionate, resilient and connected lives.

A full schedule and updated information about the teachers, class descriptions and intensive descriptions will be added as decisions are made!
